Terms of Service
The rules for using Driftfix, in plain language. By installing the Driftfix GitHub app, signing in, or using our dashboards, you agree to these terms.
- Your code stays yours. We only use it to find and fix code that an API change breaks.
- Driftfix suggests changes as pull requests. You review them, and you decide whether to merge.
- Fixes are written with AI and tested in a sandbox, but they can still be wrong. Review them like any other change.
- Driftfix is free for developers. API companies that pay us do so under a separate agreement.
- You can stop at any time by uninstalling the app.
1. What Driftfix does
Driftfix is a GitHub app and a set of dashboards. When an API you use announces a breaking change or deprecation, Driftfix finds the affected code in repositories where you installed the app, writes a fix based on the API company’s published migration guide, runs your tests on it in an isolated sandbox, and opens a pull request. API companies can see how many of their customers have migrated, as described in our Privacy page.
2. Your account and who can install it
- You sign in with GitHub. Keep your GitHub account secure; actions taken through it count as yours.
- Only install Driftfix on repositories you’re allowed to grant access to. If you install it for an organization, you confirm you have the authority to do so.
- Changing a repository’s Driftfix settings requires write access to that repository on GitHub.
3. Your code and your pull requests
- You keep all rights to your code. You give us permission to read and process it only as needed to run Driftfix for you: to find affected code, write and test a fix, and open a pull request.
- Pull requests are suggestions. Driftfix never merges anything, never pushes to your default branch, and only writes to branches named
driftfix/…. - What you merge is yours, including the changes Driftfix suggested.
4. Review before you merge
Fixes are generated with AI from the API company’s guide and checked by your own test suite, and each pull request says exactly what ran and what passed. That lowers the risk; it doesn’t remove it. Tests can miss things, and untested pull requests are labelled as untested. You’re responsible for reviewing each change before merging it.
5. Acceptable use
Don’t use Driftfix to:
- access repositories, accounts or data you aren’t authorized to access;
- try to break out of, probe or overload our sandbox or other systems;
- send us code or content that is unlawful or that you don’t have the right to share;
- as an API company, try to make Driftfix change anything in a customer’s repository beyond the migration itself. Every patch is checked mechanically, and changes outside the affected code are rejected.
We may pause or end access for anyone who breaks these rules or puts other users at risk.
6. API companies
API companies see aggregate migration data only, as described on the Privacy page. Pilots and paid plans are governed by a separate written agreement; where that agreement and these terms differ, the agreement applies to that API company. Whether or not an API company pays us never affects the pull requests developers receive.
7. Price
Driftfix is free for developers. If that ever changes, we’ll tell you in advance, and nothing you’re already using will start costing money without your agreement.
8. Ending
- You can stop at any time: turn Driftfix off for a repository in your settings, or uninstall the app on GitHub.
- When you uninstall, we delete your installation, its repositories and their run history from our database. Pull requests already opened stay in your repository until you close them.
9. No warranty
Driftfix is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every fix will be correct or complete.
10. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of Driftfix, including changes you chose to merge. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
11. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we’ll update this page and the date below. If a change is significant, we’ll tell signed-in users before it takes effect. Continuing to use Driftfix after that means you accept the new terms.
12. Questions
